I Love My Open Kitchen Design

I love my kitchen for the most part. It has a very open kitchen design. My kitchen is open to my living room, which I love because I can watch the television and the children while I do work in the kitchen.

I love the open kitchen layout design for dinner parties because my kitchen island bar is in the perfect place for food and I can prepare things while still being in the middle of everything.

I live in the south so our kitchen cabinets are beautiful stained mission kitchen cabinets, a little dark but that is what I like. I really like our kitchen cabinets because we have a lot of cabinet drawers that hold large items like the pots and pans. I went with satin nickel kitchen cabinet hardware to contrast with the darker cabinets and they look great!

I also have high ceilings through the whole house but we have exposed beams in the kitchen which I think makes our kitchen look smaller and I am unable to put a long dangling chandelier in the right location that makes sense with the beams.

My kitchen island bar in the kitchen makes a L shaped kitchen and I have noticed the new thing now is big chunky square kitchen islands and I think I would like that better.

We also have stained concrete floors in our kitchen, they are very pretty but no matter what you do they will crack somewhere in your house. If we get new floors in the future I want to go with maple hardwood floors.

I did put my kitchen storage pantry kind of catty cornered in the kitchen but it is right next to the refrigerator so you can not really open both doors at the same time.

We have a kitchen bay window with a sitting area by our table in the breakfast room. I think the sitting area is a waste. No one sits there and I have to keep it decorated and clean. I should have just had the windows go all the way to the floor. Other than that I do love my open kitchen design. It turned out very beautiful!
