Kitchen Colors And Kitchen
Color Schemes Bring It All Together

When you are choosing kitchen colors, keep in mind the kitchen style and the type of atmosphere you want to create... How do you want your new space to feel when you or your guests enter it? Do you want it to be cheerful and inviting or do you want it to look more like it came out of a design magazine?

It's a good idea to have color choices go with your kitchen style and also with your flooring, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, and decorating pieces. You can also look into custom window treatments that will add an element of color and style. If you don't want window treatments, you may want them in adjoining rooms that you can see from your kitchen.

Choose Colors That You Love

You'll want to choose kitchen colors that you love and forget about any colors that you know won't work in your room or that you don't like. Colors will either give you a positive or negative feeling or you will be neutral about the color. kitchen colors

Get samples of your favorite colors at the local home improvement or paint store. When looking at your favorite colors in your space, pair them with your other finishes and look at everything in different types and intensities of light. It is also a good idea to look at everything together in natural light.

Overall, your colors should look great together under various types and intensities of light in your kitchen. Paint colors will look different in shadows as compared with bright light.

Professional designers agree that you can choose from a broad range of colors that will work for you kitchen, as long as everything works together. If you would like to find an interior designer in your area that has been reviewed by other homeowners click here for more information.

A full array of colors are finding their way into the kitchen these days. You can use a variety of dark and bold hues to accent subdued wall. For an exciting look, put together complimentary colors if your room is large enough to handle them.

Keep in mind that not all of your kitchen colors need to come from the walls. You can use accessories to give a lot of color to a room. For example, if you are using safe kitchen colors like taupe or beige on the walls, you can add a bold colored vase for an added effect.

Use accent colors to brighten your room. A dramatic look for example, would be to paint your walls taupe and have an accent wall painted a shade of red you like. Then have red as one of the color in a glass tile backsplash.

Know Your Color Wheel

Most color wheels shows four separate areas. The outer circle is the darkest set of colors, and is called "shade". The next one towards the center is lighter and called "hue", and the next two are called "tint" and are the lightest.

Colors also come in sets called "complementary", which means they intensify and balance each other and look good together.

Colors that share the same area of the color wheel are made up of two groups: reds, oranges and yellows are "warm"; blues, violets, and greens are "cool". Temperature also has "mood": warm colors are stimulating; cool colors are relaxing.

Warm tones appear that they are moving toward you making the room seem smaller and more cozy. Cool tones makes the walls look like they are diminished or moving away from you making the room seem larger.

If you prefer neutrals—the grays, beiges, and whites — remember that they also come in cool and warm tones.

Other Kitchen Colors

Cabinets are popular in every shade of the spectrum. Everything from dark to lighter stained woods, to white and other painted pieces are popping up everywhere.

Cabinet stain or paint shades, tints and hues are simply a preference that should be based on you kitchen style. Looking at various colors will help you to narrow your selections down to those that will work best.

When you look at your favorite choices, you will get some idea of the combination that will work together to tie in with the style you want to achieve. If you like color, and want to use it to achieve what feels comfortable for you, keep these ideas in mind.
