Kitchen Granite Countertops Won Us Over

Kitchen granite countertops are the only way to go in my opinion! After years of living with old, dingy laminate kitchen counter tops, I was thrilled when my husband decided the time had finally come to replace them.

I spent a lot of time researching the various materials that are available. We considered everything - quartz countertops, granite, and solid surface countertops. I kept coming back to granite, because the benefits seemed substantial, and because there really wasn't a huge cost difference.

After a lot of deliberation, we decided to go with black granite. Measuring for the countertops was relatively simple and straightforward. This is one of those jobs that you really must trust to a professional. I was very impressed with the technician that came out to measure and template for our kitchen counter tops.

He was so thorough that I had no doubt our kitchen counter tops would fit properly. Removing the old countertops was a hard, messy job. They were attached with construction adhesive and screws. We were very concerned that our kitchen cabinets - which are solid, custom cabinets in good condition, that did not need to be replaced - would be ruined by the time the old countertops were removed.

But, thanks again to professional installation, we eventually were able to say goodbye forever to the ugly, stained, old ceramic tile kitchen countertops. When our countertops were installed, the granite looked even better than it had in the store! There was so much variation and dimension in the stone, even my husband couldn't believe how gorgeous they were.

The countertops were installed very quickly, they looked amazing, and the updated look completely changed the appearance of our kitchen. Our installer took the time to explain the proper care of the granite, which wasn't as difficult or intimidating as I'd worried it might be. We use a granite cleaner followed by a granite sealer once a year and that's it.

We have four children, and our granite countertops have held up extremely well since we installed them. I could not be happier with the appearance, the maintenance, and the performance of our kitchen granite countertops. I can't speak to the performance of other products, but I am a very happy customer, and when I talk to friends, I always tell them that they won't regret choosing granite.
