My Kitchen Layout Reflects My Taste

As a avid chef at a fine restaurant, I find it necessary to have only the latest in major kitchen appliances as well as materials like stainless steel countertops in my restaurant kitchen. Having quality materials in my kitchen at home is also a must.

At home I have an open kitchen design where modern kitchen design meets a rustic kitchen. It's kind of a fusion look...I guess it is more of a transitional kitchen.

I have marble kitchen counter tops and fine knotty pine cabinets combined with modern gas and electric kitchen stoves. My kitchen at home features the latest in appliances since I love to cook.

Everything in my kitchen is new as our kitchen remodel has been completed this past week. We also have a garden right outside the door where I grow only the freshest vegetables soon to be ingredients in my favorite recipes. My kitchen features a door leading to my herb garden where everything from basil to peppermint is only a few steps away.

I've always been attracted to kitchens with pot racks where pots and pans are suspended overhead for ease of accessibility. I cannot stand a kitchen where pots and pans are stacked in a cabinet because cabinets are for cups and glasses in my opinion. So we chose to put kitchen pot racks over the island.

Having the proper kitchen exhaust fan is a must. I had my kitchen retrofitted with a large kitchen exhaust hood because of the closeness of the living space in our house. Another addition which I feel is a must is a kitchen island bar in the center of the space serves mostly as an eating area but is functional as well with a small sink.

I love my indoor grill for those evenings to entertain guests with Japanese grill style cooking. I have Italian culinary background but like to experiment with other ethnic cooking as well.

My kitchen island is the center piece of the space, it can be considered the sweet nougat of the chocolate and is complete with a wine rack cabinet and small sink. It is great to have friends over and cook up a feast while everyone gathers around the kitchen island.
