Our new Kitchen Layout Design
by Seema D.
After spending ten years in the same kitchen from 2000 to 2010, I knew that it was in need of a kitchen remodel. Thus, last year we took up massive work of remodeling our kitchen layout design.
All of our family and friends were anxious to give us suggestions ranging from price to pay to kitchen styles. Since we could not do a complete change in the original design of our home, we went ahead with whatever options we had.
From the beginning I was very sure to increase the length of my kitchen by using some of our balcony area and adding two windows. This not only increased the length of the kitchen but also gave it a new look. We also reconfigured an adjoining bathroom to get more space.
With the increase in space our next concern was to change ceramic tile flooring. We wanted anti- skid tiles for our kitchen, because none of us were ready to break our legs at this age. The new tile really perked up our kitchen.
After the floor was remodeled our next aim was to add more cabinets to the kitchen. Until this time my husband played a supportive and silent role, but now it was his turn to suggest the color of cabinets.
He wanted a honey tone maple which I also liked and that we went with. We are so happy with our new kitchen design now that it is complete! If you are thinking about a new kitchen layout design, think about taking space from another area if you can.
